I was thinking of getting some 19. 5's for my 08' Mega Cab Dually and I was wondering if anyone is doing this and how it all works out. Is the height much different, will I get more miles out of these tires?

I've got several trucks running 225-70-19. 5 tires... the same tire that's on an 08 5500 that we own. . as well as 3 of the 3500's... .

We get close to 100K miles on the steer tires, and about 90K miles on the rear re-caps...
We use the UPS all season tire by Bandag. Through the years we've ran a 00 F550, & a 01 3500 dually to 500K each before we sold them, currently we have an 04 with 300K miles. .

We use steel wheels that were made for the trucks, this has been the lowest cost per mile of any tire we've tried. . we've not has a blow out but a few nails over the years.

The small height difference corrects the speedometer so its right on with our GPS.

No change in fuel economy, just better life, lower cost and much higher safety margin...

HI,

In regards to the 19. 5 tires, I recently bought a bread van running 19. 5's... .

The van I got came with 225 70 R 19. 5 on the front and four 8 R 19. 5's on the rears.

The rears are noticeably taller than the fronts... .

If you are geared low and want fewer engine rpm's I would go with the taller 8 R 19. 5's

I plan on replacing the fronts with the taller tires so I can rotate as needed.

Hope this helps you.

Andrew

Check my photo in the gallery I have 19. 5 eagle wheels with 265/70/19. 5. they are about 2. 5 taller then stock. The cheap made in China tires were a little hard to get balanced but they are fine now and i plan on getting 100k out of them got 80k on them now. the 14 ply load rating L tires do ride alittle hard but what can you expeck with 100psi in front and 75 in rear.

I think by the sounds of things I am very interested in checking out this option if I can get around 100,000 out of the 19. 5 still concerned about the ride
