Ok this is what I have 2003 HO 6 spd quadcab 4x4 105 gallon fuel tank and tool box in the bed truck sits almost level when loaded down with diesel, I want to put some real tires on but having trouble deciding whether or not 315 70 17s are going to fit or if it needs to be lifted. I do not want to lift it will be a pain hooking up my goose neck if I do that so can I squeeze these tires in without any problems? If you have pics please email them to me at -- email address removed -- thanks

The 315's won't haul as much weight as our load range E, 10 ply 265 or 285's. You'll likely have a fair amount of sidewall flex especially as the tires get older.

Believe me, what our trucks come with are real tires, they just don't look as cool as 315s.

I think about that weight issue every time I load my truck to 12800lbs GVW:rolleyes:

Yes, there is a little more flex, but the ride smooths out somewhat, no, you dont need to lift with standard width wheels, fit is not an issue, yes I leveled mine to look good empty, yes the rear sags when loaded over 850lbs about a 1/2" beyond level, no its not a problem I installed Firestone Ride Rite and compressor with the control under the middle seat and the rig is always level even with 1000 in the back ,133 gallons of fuel on board, 1400 on the hitch and 13000 out back.

DM,

How do you like the RideRite system?

I'm tired of sagging when I pull my trailer, and was thinking either spacer blocks or an air system.

How much did the kit cost you with compressor and all?

Mine fit fine, lock to lock no rubbing. Truck is unlifted (yet). However, the new tires will "lift" your truck about 1 1/2" due to their larger diameter

The 315's have ther same load rating as the oem 265's.

315 load range D 3195@80

265 load range E 3195@80

From BFG.

I have 315's and leveled out my truck with Daystar 2" spacers.

If I was to do it again I would use the metal ones from Rough Country. You will have a time finding good shocks as ALL the ones sold as of now are made for the 02's with take a shorter one.

I have the Daystar 2" Leveling Kit installed on my '03. It is made of metal and I was able to re-use the factory shocks, no change in ride. Love the 315's. :)

The letter designator is more important than the weight in this situation. A load range E is safer because it is designed to carry that weight with a higher duty cycle. The same weight on the 315's will cause early side wall break down and contribute to sway when loaded or pulling. If your going to work it hard, stay with the load range E's.

Pdog - you're right, but at legal weight and maybe 2-3K more on the truck we are well within limits and the ride quality is excellent, just make sure they are well balanced.

Duck, about $400. 00, works great. The Compressor, panel, my phones 'brain box, inverter are all under the flip seat and are out of the way and quite convienent. I run 5-10 lbs empty or with an ATV or load of fuel, and 25 - 35 with the trailer hooked(1200 tounge, 800-1000 in the bed. )

The install is over the axle in-board of the spring pack, not over it, and replaces the bump stops with the upper bracket. The bottom fits over the axle, inboard of the frame and the top is against the bracket even with the top of the frame. The drivers side has a slight misfit due to the weldment of a bracket to the frame that ends up under the bracket, just crank down the grade 8 bevel head allen bolts and it warps to fit perfectly.

You can't see them except from behind and with the truck leveled it rarely hits the overloads making the ride smooth without the harshness of the overloads bumping.

I have had BFG-AT 285's (Load range D) on my '94, '98, '99 and I've had BFG-AT 315's on my '01, and now my '03. I regularly pull a backhoe or a Bobcat with the trucks and I would have to say the ride is much better than the stock 235's ('94, & '98), much better than the stock 245's ('99, & '01), and much better than the stock 265's on the '03. I was getting around 40-50k miles out the 285's, and on my '01 I had around 45K miles on them when I sold it. I noticed no sidewall breakdown, or sway problems, and they worked very well for me. I expect to get around 50K miles with the 315's on this '03 while pulling a 28' gooseneck with a backhoe on it regularly. :)

I'm glad you had such good luck. I don't work my truck very hard, only pull a 45 lb TT 4k a year so I may go with the 315's myself some day. The only thing I would like to see first is some kind of speedo correction gadget - I'm just anal that way.

Just got back from a 16 hour roundtrip run to the beaches of SC for 2 days with my brand new 315's. They make my truck even more of a beast of the highway now! I can easily run 90+mph without having to worry about high rpm's.

BTW, my truck is totally stock (except the tires) and they do not rub at all.

can't you just replace the speedo gear on the T-case?
