as the title says. i know someone that wants to reprogram their 305 to a 325 CTD 600. anyone done it or know if it can be done?

There are some Hard parts on the 600 motor that makes it diffrent from the 305 HO. mainly the Turbo and wastegate actuator valve, The ECM is totally diffrent as well. Your friend would be better off getting a chip such as Edge EZ that will put him way past the 325/600 rating. If he doesnt want a chip then he will have to wait because Marco (he reprograms the ECM's, Marcos Mad ECM's) hasnt been able to get into the ECM's on the 3rd gens to my knowlage, but then agin he wont be setting them to 20 hp more, Im sure it would be a bigger increace.

i thought there might be some differences in the motor and that is why i haven't heard of it happening yet. i will let him know for sure.

I can't be done and I don't think you'd want to do it even if it could. I've seen reports of about 10hp difference at the rear wheels between an HO and a 600 and for that whopping 10hp you get the 3rd injection event which I believe is the primary reason for low fuel mileage complaints with the 600. Expect 2-3 mpg less. Even if you could do it, you'd also void the warranty due to the hardware changes that Cummins engineered for the 600.

Live with the stock power of the 555 or go with an aftermarket box.

305 to a 325

Since the 325 runs hotter there were a number of mechanical hard part changes which made it possible to run those temps. Just a few from memory was an upgraded turbo, intercooler, valves, valve seats, pistons, air intake, larger exhaust. A program change alone I'm afraid won't cut it.

I think your friend must be confused because he appears to be asking the wrong question. If he is interested in getting more HP out of his 305 then that is the question he should be asking, "How do you get more HP out of the 305?" I can't imagine that anyone would want their 305 programmed instead as if it was a 325!

ok i thought it was a 305, but it is the one before that but still the 3rd generation body style. they were unaware of the hard part changes and thought it was a simple program update. thanks for all the input guys. :D
