Just not the same as when they would show up at a dealer and buy a car to go racing. The days of Daytona chargers, superbirds etc. were the most exciting. Now there are restrictor plates tube frames etc. and do not relate to vehicles you can purchase. Nascar just really does not relate to my grease monkey side and has not in a long time, the outer body may relate to a common vehicle but it ends there. Just my personal opinion.

I kinda agree Dave, but in things to get happy about on the tube, this is about it. If you look a bit past the surface, there are some cool teams and people to find out about. You have to admit the ramp up, to this race especially, is very patriotic and motivating.

I will try to watch it. With it's made for TV format a lot of the excitement is gone. A bunch of pretty faces driving cookie cutter cars makes for a boring race.

You know, I really don't have a favorite driver now that Jr. retired. I'd like to see some of these young guys have a good day, Byron, Elliott, Blaney, etc.

How about you?

I really don’t have one fav. I like a bunch, Truex because I consider him a local boy, and he’s just a real nice guy. What I really like are the hard core guys like Kyle Larson. He would show up at a track in the middle of nowhere looking for a ride. Tony Stewart too, since he bought Eldora speedway, you could see him out there grooming the track.
When I was going to Flemington speedway steadily, it was the weekend that Pocono was running, and Kenny Schrader showed up unannounced looking for a ride. The place went nuts.
You won’t see major league guys looking to play with nobodies in any other sport.
