What do Ya Think???

They said that JD died of a neurological disease. I wonder if he had CTE or something related to all of the years he played football?

Joe said it couldn't be linked to any one particular incident. I dont know how many concussions he suffered in his life. He did race bikes and stock cars at a competitive level too so its a good possibility. He had been battling it since around 13-14. Awfully young fella that left behind a young family.

One of my best friends here has a son in his early 20's that is battling issues from multiple concussions. He got them playing basketball in high school of all things. They have had him all over the country at different specialists trying to give him all of the help they can.

In fact, he was in your neck of the woods last week Wayne. They took him to Manhattan to see a specialist there. They took the train from here in Greensburg to Penn Station. They had never taken the train in to the city but I talked them in to it and they really enjoyed it. I believe the Dr's office is located near central park.

I just wanted to tell you guys that I really enjoyed this thread yesterday during the race. Thanks for posting this up. It's not often that we all get to enjoy something like a race together.

Actually, Big, real racing is right under your nose right there, I’ll bet nearly every night of the week!
If your talking about the Indy 500 we went last year it was a HUGE disappointment IMO its hard to see anything except a small portion of the track. I think they need to build a new venue but its a BIG nostalgia thing for Indianapolis so thats not going to happen.

We attended the Lucas Drag strip frequently and enjoy it.

I've been to 5 Brickyard 400's including the inaugural in 1994 and can say it's a terrible place to watch a race. The history and nostalgia make up for that however. I was in awe each time I went.

As for yesterday's race, I had it on all day but barely watched it. I did watch the end after the big one just to see who was left standing. It's just not to same without that redneck element.

Big, you’re so far off base about grassroots racing, I don’t know where to begin. It’s good that you’re going to a drag strip, but it’s apples and oranges- what I’m talking about.

Ok Big, reached out to a guy in the know kinda in your area, who’d know what I’m talking about. So here’s the deal on REAL racing. Now of course I’ve never been here, but if I were passin thru, I’d check it out. This is grassroots racing- and where a lot of today’s NASCAR came from.

March 30 is the “lid lifter” as they say. A full card sure to impress.

I've now been to Cup races at Daytona, Pocono, Richmond, Martinsville, and Sonoma.

Pocono is a awful place to see a race and to get in and out of the track. Daytona isn't as nice as what you would expect either. Even with good seats, it is hard to see the back stretch or in the turns.

Richmond is my hands down favorite followed closely by Martinsville. Great views and you feel like you are right on top of the action.

On my bucket list still are Bristol and Watkins Glenn.

Ive passed through Bristol while it was sleeping, on the way to Dolly, and they let us go in and sit in the stands. That place is neat. I gotta do the night race there someday!
I want to camp at martinsville on the backstretch.

These are some we've attended, Lawrenceburg is 2.5 hours away a bit of a hike for an evening. High Performance Dirt Track Go Karts are a huge draw out here as is 1/2 Mile & Mile Flat tract motorcycle.

Luca Oil Drag strip is used EVERY WEEKEND and at least a night or two during the week lots of events that a normal guy can get involved in without taking away from the home montage.

INDY has lots of other racing rather than the BORING RESTRICTOR COOKIE CUTTER CARS and Indy OUT OF EVERYONES REACH UNLESS YOUR ULTRA WEALTHY

Not many restrictions here

That Lucas Oil Drag strip is the old IRP (Indianapolis Raceway Park) correct? If so, I've been down that track a time or two in my old 2001 Ram back in the day when they used to have that Tunder in Muncie diesel event.

I couldn't tell you the Lucas Oil Drag Strip for as long as we've been here has been just that. Its a really nice place very well ran & organized. The Muncie Dragway (I believe its called) is still there I've drove by it several times on my way to the ethanol plant it Portland, Its a MUCH smaller venue.

I'm sitting here watching the snow fly. Supposed to go to dinner with my sister's family later this evening if it doesn't get too bad out. Will watch as much of the race as i can stay awake for between then and now.

Well, I was able to see the green drop, watch a few laps at 60 and 20 to go, and the checkered fell as I was driving home. It looked to be a yawner.
