Is Delta Beginning a Downward Spiral?

Im looking at one, Model 7800. Is around $400 and the special shop vac is around another $299 Has a lot of nice features. Will save time in the long run with clean up and tarping off areas, just looking for some feedback on how they work before dropping 7 bills on a tool.

Thanks, Jim

I have one and use it mainly for big jobs. It works great. I didn't get their vac, but use a shop vac which works just as well. You just need to turn the vac on before sanding, theirs turns on with the sander. I can sand above someones desk with very little dust. The disc are expensive, but last a long time. You only want to sand dry stuff so as not to fill the expensive discs. With proper taping it can save time. If you put to much mud on it, well don't. It is not for "I will make it flat by sanding it machine. "

My initial impressions exactly. I picked one up last wed, Only used it once to sand a kitcken I skimcoated. took out the little ridges nicely and minimal dust. I hear ya on the disks, 5 for $40 up here. Will incorporate an average price for 2 into each job from now on.

I am not running their shop-vac either, manily because of the cost, was $299 at my tool place.

Tough to get into corners where they meet with the cieling for example, but save alot of time and cleanup in open areas...
