I'm getting ready to do a coolant change and put in a new thermostat. I'm just wondering if anybody with a '98-'99 has put in an '00up 190' thermostat('98-'99 stock is 180'). I verified the difference when I was at the dealer. I asked to see a thermostat for a '99 and an '00. The parts looked identical, but the '99 was marked 180' and the '00 was marked 190'. I couldn't see that there would be any problems using one. So, if anybody has done this, were there any problems? Also, could you tell much difference in the way the temp cycle operates? Does it run any hotter? My '99 has always run on the cold side. I'm hoping this would warm it up just a bit. Thanks.

Good question. My son has a 99 and I think he has changed the coolant twice. I told him the next change he should change the t-stat too. I don't think there would be any problem. As far as I know thats the only difference in a 99 compared to 00.

99's180,01's190 I didn't know there was a change. There might be I'm not up to speed on 01's.

One thing you may want to check is the fan clutch engage temp. I don't have it here either. If there isn't enough spread the fan will run sooner, longer, more often and maybe all the time. Have seen it on the big rigs.
