Just wondering how this works in comparision to buying a new line with the sensor port. I'm going to get a temp gauge for the transmission and was looking at this setup on Genos.

I had this unit in my 99 gasser. Never had any problem with it. Have 6 speed now so I don't worry about trans temps anymore. ;)

save the money on the POS dipstick sensor and put it toward doing it right by purchasing the replacement line.

I have the dipstick sensor. But I agree with bob. It is still a PITA to take apart the "T" handle of the dipstick to thread the tiny wires through. If the trans line sensor is good (reliable leak wise ) as original factory plumbing go with that. The dipstick does not save install time. It only saves cutting into stock plumbing and the oil mess. OBTW mine still works great no problems at all.

Bob... I don't take kindly to anyone calling any part of my truck a POS. I just put you on my "Not too overly bright list"

Dip stick sensor

Mine is about 1 year old, works fine, installs in 2 minutes. Genos will include it "FREE" with your gauge and mine included a quick disconnect 2 lead plug, so you can easily pull the dip stick to check fluid level. My advice is to try it first, you can spend plenty more time and money later if you'd like:D . Jim G.

.

I have no say on the subject, other than where does the dipstick sensor take readings from? Is it the pan itself? I figure it'd have to be if it's on the end of the dipstick, and the downside to that is that you're seeing temps after they go through both coolers... . not exactly accurate or precise readings.

I've had both the JRE manifold, and now have the replacement line... both work good, but wanted the line with higher pressures in my new transmission, so I didn't pump it dry after blowing the manifold apart. I've got a manifold for sale if someone wants it (won't have it in hand for a week though). PM me.

Just my $0. 0175

If you put a pressure sensor instead of the temp sensor in the line port what range of pressure guage would be right? I am thinking of puting a T in that line port to get a transmission presure reading as well as temp before the coolers.

Think with a T that the temp sensor would get an accurate reading? "Just happen to have" (ie went the same route) a JRE manifold that will turn into a T and fit that line port. Have to check on physical clearance of the T yet though.

Those of you guys that use/used the dipstick sender did you actually have the lowest zip-ty in the fluid itself? I'm pretty sure the guy from Geno's said it was no problem at all but I'm a little nervous/paranoid and want some experienced advice to calm my nerves and confirm that I heard them right.
