I have been trying for a long time to get the factory Sirius kit (purchased from the dealer)to work with my factory Uconnect - Sirius works if I swap Uconnect for Sirius, but will not daisy-chain like it is supposed to). Someone mentioned a while ago that they thought a DRB may be necessary to tell the Uconnect to listen for an input. They also mentioned they thought it was under "entertainment". I had my local dealerships look for something like that, but they have been clueless the entire time and completely unable to get the system to work. Does anyone with DRB experience know the answer, or can someone look up the DRB menus to see if there is anything there?

Thanks,

You need to look at the instructions that came with the Mopar Sirius kit and call the 800 help number for Mopar. I seem to recall that there is a jumper harness that needs to be installed for it to work. I have access to DRB, but my truck is an 06 so it uses StarMobile. I would need to look at an 05 truck to see if it is on the menu.

Thanks for the reply, but the instructions were kind of the first thing to get looked at. There is only one harness from the Sirius to the Uconnect that uses the CD changer port on the Uconnect module. Are you suggesting you heard something about modifying the harness? Both the Sirius and the Uconnect guys say it should be plug and play. I am trying to reconcile a comment from someone on the forum about needing to tell the Uconnect via DRB that it has something plugged into it to listen to. I reflexively trust something from the forum more than anything I hear from a "help" desk over the phone.

There is another jumper you have to use,the part # is hard to find but does exist. The drb will not do anything

Well Dang! Does anyone know how to find this "jumper"? There are litterally no ports left - where would it connect to? I hope you guys are not thinking of the harness necessary to run Sirius and a CD changer . . .

You need to get a 5066203AA harness. Hopefully the rest is in the instructions, but... with the factory U-connect, the sirius cable gets plugged into the hands free module. The module is behind the right side dash end cap, sort of above the glove box. Unplug the 10-way harness on the end, and plug in the sirius cable to the module. The existing harness is there for what seems to be no reason. The hands free module handles the communication between the sirius module and the radio.

I had it all written down in a old catalog where I used to work, but I moved to Texas since then. Star online came to the rescue with the part number. Now if you were adding a 10 disc changer, you would also need a multiplexer, but they don't recommend it if you actually use the U-connect.

Okay, sorry for more questions, but I would like understand the connections to Uconnect so I may possibly apply this information to other audio accessories. The Sirius installation kit comes with a cable that is technically supposed to use the "cd changer" port on the back of the factory radio. Since the Uconnect connects to the radio using that port, the Uconnect module itself has the same port on it (to allow connection of Sirius or a CD changer with the Uconnect module running the show). I thought I was being clear that we had already connected the Sirius to the port on the Uconnect module using the harness that came with the Sirius kit. Are you saying this other harness (5066203AA) is different? Does it include a line the standard Sirius harness does not? A BUS line?

I was actually wondering what the mutiplexer would do if it was put in line between the radio and the other components - I figured it would not work right since the uconnect wants to run the show, but I wonder how screwy it is if they say "don't reccomend" doing it (its not a no, not a yes, . . . )

Thanks,

Going off the published wiring diagrams, the connectors are the same. There could be an inline resistor in the other wiring harness, or the wires may be at different locations in the connector. I have one at work I'm going to play with tomorrow to see exactly what the difference is.

Digging a little further, the harness might just be a longer version of the one in the kit. Another star bulletin said to make sure pins 6, 8, and 9 on the center connector of the U-connect module must connect to pins 10, 8, and 7 at the radio. It seems some truck were built without those wires, and in such cases another harness, 5102014AA is required. There should only be 2 locations in those connectors without wires.

All it says about adding a changer and Sirius with the U-connect, is "possible adverse affects on the hands free phone operation". Very informative, huh?

I really wish they could just put all this info in the instruction sheets, or the catalogs. The tech lines are usually of no help either. We'll get this figured out for you.

I continue to appreciate the help! I forgot to mention, from what I could see in the shop manual the harness on the end of the uconnect module (C3) is for factory Sirius - C3 on the Uconnect module is unoccupied on my truck (no factory Sirius). Looks like the harness from C3 makes a connection in the pass kick panel to a harness that among other things runs to the rear seat where the factory Sirius tuner should be.

Sorry for the late reply. I checked the harness on saturday, and it is identical to the harness included in the installation kit, only much longer. Make sure you have the 8 wires in the C2 connector to the radio. If the sirius is plugged into the C3 port, it should work. If not, you may have a bad U-connect module.

Marc

Yeah, that's what I figured. It's what two dealerships figured also. The Uconnect module has already been swapped out (once), and still no one can get it to work. If I give up, I am looking at getting the new Pioneer HU that has built in bluetooth hands-free capability.
