I have one, and I had a '01 2500. Why are you shopping for a 3rd Gen? Just curious. I really miss my '01.

You should be able to get a new one fairly close to that, depending on how deluxe you want. (I got mine for around 33K, and it's pretty loaded - price shouldn't have increased by that much).

Or, are you looking for a 305/555 rather than a 600?

We're the exact opposite.

My '01. 5 was slightly bombed, and the real reason I got the new one was for the cab space. The kids fit better in the new one. Some complain about the space in them, and granted the Chevy and Ford are bigger, but mine is adequate. And the dually was needed for my towing needs. Other than that, I really miss my old one. Hopefully, with some engine mods, This one will make me happy. Although, I've heard all the troubles with these new trucks and I'm a little leary about bombing.

SOLER,

In all fairness, my '01. 5 was a good truck. It had a few issues; steering box replaced under warranty, clockspring 3 times, lift pump failure, etc. It was a bone stock ETC auto, so its not really fair to compare to my new ETH six speed. To be completely honest, I would have kept it if it was a six speed dually and I'm sure I'd still be quite happy with it. Despite that, my '03 steers way better (now my wife can drive with the camper on), the brakes are better (even though the '01. 5 had the rear disks) and I like the interior better as you've said. Much nicer for the kids.

I do wish the 3rd gens still had HX35's and Dana axles, though. I would agree that the 3rd gens are much closer to their potential and there isn't as much room to bomb before requiring more significant changes (turbo, for one) as the older trucks. This hasn't bothered me too much, yet because at 305/555 it seems to have enough power for my needs and I don't plan on modifying it yet.

Cheers

Yeah, the steering is definitely WAY better on the new truck.

I had a 2000 auto, and hated it. I had it less than a year, that's how much I hated it. 20,000 miles, and when I got my 5th wheel and took a trip through Maryland Panhandle, I was totally miffed. 35 mph and 2nd gear up a hill, and the transmission hunting for gears all day long no matter what speed I drove. And, 8 mpg to top it all off. I thought I had a diesel, not a gasser

The ETH/DEE was leaps and bounds above the 2000, and I was really happy. I can understand why you didn't like yours.

My new truck did the same hill as mentioned above at 50 mph, and I averaged 9-10 mpg. Better, but not like my bombed '01. I'll be bombing the new one, but not without much trepidation.

Blacksdieselhp has the ETH/dually. That's why I am curious.

Check out O'Neal (I think) Dodge in west GA, they usually have a large selection of late model used trucks. They advertise alot in the Truck Trader.

What about Robg, he has an '03 that he may want to part with. Look up his profile and check him out!

P. S. Sorry but his is an auto... ... :(

I'd rather have a 6 speed, but I would settle for a 305 HO with the 48re. I really miss my 01 ETH. It made 608 hp with the twins. This truck is a dog compared to my 01'
