I've been thinking lately of cleaning up the area of my truck that doesn't seem to get as much attention to keeping clean as the rest, under the hood. Wondering if anyone would like to share some pictures of what they have done with there's? The insulation on the bottom of my hood is starting to get torn up and falling off in places so I'm thinking of just removing it and cleaning up the paint on the bottom side of the hood. And my valve cover and the rest of the motor need some touching up too. Was considering polishing up and powder coating my valve cover or going with the Cummins one that Geno's sells. And mostly just cleaning everything up and detailing it out. Any pictures would be appreciated. Would love to see what everyone else has done to make their's look good.

You'll see some EXCELLENT examples of impressive stuff some guys have done - mine is certainly nothing special - but here it is:

Well I figured I'd post some pictures up of mine just for people to see. The under hood insulation somehow "fell off" yesterday and I was quite pleased with what the paint looked like underneath. Just a light cleaning and maybe a wax and it will look great.

Started out...

And after the removal...

And a few more of the motor. I know its pretty plain and dirty but that's what I'm trying to correct.

I eliminated the under hood pad when i went to the aftermarket cowl hood. It was way to fugly to put on the new hood and I am thinking of going to the Advanced Thermal Products underhood mat for the new hood... ... Andy

and my 2 speed condenser fan, makes the ac work much better as i have it wired to come on low with the compressor, i have a switch on the dash for high if i need it

Good grief - how do you get your hood closed with that fan in there?

its not huge for the quantity of air it moves and none of the gnat fart fans that fit easily were what i wanted, i work at a euro junkyard and grabbed it from a mid 80s early 90s mercedes (300e but most models from the same time period run this bosch fan) i did a little fancy relay work and wiring to make it do what i want, as is it is a single speed so i added a nice big double poll double throw fan relay and added a resistor to one leg for a high and low speed, then wired in a relay to the compressor circuit to trigger the low speed side with the compressor (i could of maybe done it without adding a extra relay but it made it simple to control the fan relay which is set up to be triggered by a ground and the dodge circuit is all switched hot)

a shot of the resistor mounted where it can get plenty of air

to clear the hood this fan was really close and all i needed was a rch or two so i put a washer under the lower grill mounting screws to space the grill out a tad at the bottom

the cool thing is the upper mounting points were good to go with a couple quick fabbed brackets and the only hole i had to drill was in the bumper under the plastic cover where i bolted the lower bracket
