anyone that has ever gotten code p0148 (common rail high pressure). what conditions has it happend, what was the cause and the fix for the problem, i have gotten it a couple times when towing 5k behind me. truck is stock.

I have seen it caused by a dirty fuel filter as well as a lower than expected amount of fuel to the CP3. I have known people that have fixed with a fuel filter or a lift pump. I also know of one truck that got his injectors replaced and it fixed it.

Some trucks get the 0148 all the time and others cannot get it? It is a very general code and if it is not found with other fuel related codes it can be hard to diagnose.

Most people that get it either get it cruising at a constant speed or at WOT. Usually it does not get set with in town driving or if you accelerate and decelerate a lot on the highway.

Let us know what you come up with.

Its described as a "Fuel delivery error" a very general code, I have gotten it while switching my EZ towing and going down the highway. Not a huge deal for me but on a stock truck something is up.

i should also add that when it happend to me the truck lost alot of power. enough so i could barely keep it at 40 mph on flat highway. . only happens when im towing somthing. . kinda strange. but after truck sits for a while and i dont tow anything it runs perfect. always takes a week to get appointment at dealer and by then the engine lite goes out and dealer cant do anything... . was their 2 times... . im begining to think if it happens again im just gonna put my foot to the floor and blow somthing up so they know for sure... . i dont know what else to do. cant just drive into dealers here and have someone even take a quick look. kinda sickening.

This is the code I had when my lift pump quit... . sorry

It sounds like its going into limp home mode (derated engine power so it doesnt destroy itself) I have only see it do this on a 299 code not the 148? I have had both and only the 299 did this but I only get the 299 when Im cruising for a long time down the highway (which I have only gotten a light twice) with a big trailer behind me?

I second the in tank lift pump. A buddy of mine just spent 2500 dollars and months trying to find this issue. Ask the dealer to put a manual gauge it will show below spec.

Was curious if qzilla has received any more code 0148 complaints from their xzt module? I'm kind of scared to try and use my xzt anymore.

There are a few people that have gotten it, but it usually goes hand in hand with some other problem. Usually a weak lift pump or a dirty fuel filter. Generally there is a fuel restriction whether the truck is stock or modified.

I read you other post and the other possibility is that something went wrong in your module? Normally when that happens you will get a lot of codes and it should not give a 0148?? That is the odd part. There are a lot of codes that I would say you have a harness or module problem, but not on the 0148 code. I would try to plug it back in and see if it does the same thing. If it does then you need to call our support line and send it in and make sure a part on the baord did not break. If it runs fine then it could have been a loose connection, but that would be a first for a 0148 code.

got my oil changed from a dealer a week ago, got a p 0148 on a road trip, looked under the truck and found oil on my front diff, transfer case, rear diff, and everywhere in between. The truck is at the dealer, i'll find out what happened in the morning hopefully nothing big.
