Anyone with a high-idler yet?

Can anyone point me toward an aftermarket high idler made specifically for the '03s?

May want to try this inexpensive trick... . use a stick and a combination of the power adjustable pedals and/or power seat.

I know, but I want one that is more sophisticated. I'd like one I could use whilst stuck in traffic.

I'd love one also to work w/ my e-brake to warm up the truck in the A. M. , but the damn high idle mode on my truck seems to NEVER want to work.



It would be nice if there was or is, a way to turn the high idle feature on and off.

My engine went to high idle mode one chilly morning last week. There must be a temperature sensor one could fool into getting the same results.

Thought all 03's came with high idle, standard equipment??

Mine works all the time. Mind you, its been anywhere form -20 to

-40 lately. Personally, i dont notice any difference in heat output. It may help with the unburned fuel problem at such low outside temps, but if i leave it idling while i run into the store or PO, it actually cools down considerably. Where as if I shut it off, and come back 20 miutes later, the coolant temp is higher when restarted.

mailed Harold & he doesn't have anything that will fool the new electronics. A guy up here is trying to make one but no luck yet. My high idle works all the time but the park brake has to be on so the electronics know that you are stopped. -13f here couple weeks ago & even with rad totally blocked off heat guage would not move until I drove. Could sit all day at fast idle & you would have to pee in a bottle and hold it to keep your hands warm. Only solution is Espar or equiv. in this climate. $2400 installed.

Bright side is that it doesn't matter how hot it gets in summer or what you are towing you will never overheat if your rad is clean.

Could the drive-by-wire be fooled?

If these new trucks are drive-by-wire there must be some kind of sensor that senses the position of the throttle like a TPS or similar. Does anyone know how this sensor works? If it is resistive then maybe a resistor could be placed in series with the sensor to fool the computer that the pedal is being pressed but be bypassed with a switch during normal driving.

I think its controlled by the computer thru the cruise control. Ever try to hold the accelerator at exactly 1K rpm?? When the high idle kicks in, it always goes exactly to 1K and stays there, till the brake or clutch is pressed, which disables it, just like the cruise control.

Thats what i think anyway.
