meeeeee 2. But by that thread, it defintley looks to be a common issue!

Atleast it's good to know of a these types of websites where for sure someone will figure out whats going on,and share a resolution.

Have 700 miles on mine and three weeks worth of ownership and this has happened about 5 times so far. Just turn key back off and on again and its starts, but ticks ya off when it just cranks.

I always let the wait to start light go off before I start it. So only under those conditions have I seen the issue. 4 of the times it just cranked, one other time it was trying to fire, but could not catch, it was really odd that time. Called the dealer and they had no idea.

Another thing I have noticed is that sometimes when you turn the key it fires right up after just a few turns of the starter, other times it takes several turns. No rhyme or reason when it does it, just when it decides to.

Perhaps those who are experiencing this "no start" problem have only recently traded their older 12 valve or 24 valve non HPCR Ram which would start almost immediately as the starter engaged.

The HPCR engines take longer to build high rail pressure and for sensors to locate camshaft or crankshaft rotation position.

I say this because I understand you are saying the engine will start immediately when you try the starter again.

Mine requires spinning the engine over for longer than I like although it is probably actually less than five seconds . . . but it has never failed to start.

Thats a good thought Harvey, but I think it really has more to do with the "Tip to Start" feature. You can bump the key all the way over and release, at which point the starter will turn over until it catches and then releases. I am starting to think its signal stepping on signal thing as was stated in the other forum post. Cause if you do wait just a second or two longer it seems to help out.

Is their any way to get this information to Dodge, I think their is enough information posted to establish that their is a problem. I did notice that one post talked about a loose ground wire under the bed of the truck, after tightening it their problem went away. I haven't had the issue myself but would sure like to know what the problem is. We should try and tackle this as a team before it gets out of hand.

One of the Gents on the attached form ask a interesting question, he states that he has the remote start system and has not had the problem. I also have the remote start system and have had no issues. Oh by the way what is a tip start system?

i think its the feature that allows you to just to turn the key to the start postion and release , therefore without having to hold it in the start position and waiting for it to fire up.

Mine to has remote start, but has not had the problem while using the remote start, only when the key is being turned did it just crank. I have since started waiting about 1-2 seconds after the wait to start light has gone off and to this point have not had it start wrong.

I decided to wait for the heater light to extinguish and it got me again!
I am in SoCal so I will normally just crank it without waiting for the heater to turn off.
It is hard to duplicate thought!

It happen to me and I was going to the dealer for a marker light and I had them check it out and it did not throw any codes. Interesting only once 8800 miles.

I was told that sometime in may there will be a new flash for the 4th gen trucks

It is possible that the fuel you are using does not have a high enough Cetane Number, which will affect the combustibility of the fuel. You can research on the internet many problems that people are having today dealing with the new engines and the ULSD fuels, such as sooting isssues of EGR Valves. This is caused in my opinion by low cetane fuels. The new ULSD fuels do not burn as hot as in past fuels and the EPA has mandated more restictive polution controls on vehicles. People who have and do use our additives have had no problems with there EGR's and the problem is widespread. In fact YouTube has a video showing how to disconect the EGR valve, and people are doing it even though it voids the warrranty of the engine. OEM manufacturers would like to see a 50 cetane level but american ASTM specs only spec a 40 Cetane. Over 50% of europeans drive a diesel vehicle, and there spec for Cetane is 50 and going to 55 in 2012. What do they know that we don't? I do know for a fact that when you increase the Cetane Number you reduce NOX gases and particulate matter which means less polution because your fuel burns cleaner.

Mine starts almost as soon as I turn the key. My dads 06 had to crank for 2 seconds or so, but was fixed thru a SW upgrade... The HPCR may take a tiny bit longer, but still starts quicker than either of my gassers.

It seems that the common denominator on the no start issue is the auto trans, I haven't read yet of an issue on the G56 equipped trucks.
