Hi all,

Has anyone installed a set of Verlyn's FastCoolers with a 4" exhaust system? I ordered a set of FastCoolers last week, and while I was under my truck removing the muffler, I happened to glance up at the transmission, and it doesn't look like there will be enough room to mount the FastCooler on that side, looks like it may not clear the exhaust pipe. I have the 4" Jardine system by the way.

I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this... .

Tom

Yeah, i want to know also. tom i hope you are wrong, because you and i have the same exhast, and i just ordered the fast coolers also.

ps, how do you like it without the muffler

Oh Phil, I still can't get over how awesome it is!! If you remember Greg's old Stack-o-saurus and how it sounded, man, this is much better in my opinion. Especially as you let the clutch out in any gear and give it light to medium throttle. I am sooooo glad I finally did it. Nuthin' but :D:D:D:D:D:D

Hey, I'm going to be at Brandon's shop next month having him install all the new SPA gauges I ordered from him. I'll let you know when and you can drop by and check out the sound if ya like. One is intended to go in the FastCooler so I can keep an eye on my transmission temp. Since the new FCs are now pre-tapped for a probe, why not?

tom let me know when you will be there, ill swing by, it seems im there every day anyway, oh ok maybe every other day. LOL ive seriously been considering taking the sawzall to the muffler, just trying to decide if i dont really like my neighbors that much yet. ;)

One of the guys at our last meeting had just put fast coolers on his 6 speed and he had to have aboout 1/4 inch shaved off the exhaust side cooler so it would clear his banks SS system. This was done by a machine shop around the block from Piers shop in BC. I think he said Piers was going to talk to Fast about shipping them that way... but don't quote me on that. The member who had this done is on the road and will not be on the board for a few days.

Fast has two stubbys avalibale. One is for the transfer with a 4".

I tried to fit a full size beside my 5" flex pipe, coming off my twins, but you can't get the bolt started.

I think I'll trade it in for the smallest one he has.

Verlyn made me a set of half-height coolers. They fine nicely with my 5" exhaust. Actually I could have fitted in the standard coolers but I wanted more space around stuff that I might remove any time for new experiments.

Tom, is brandon going to do the install on the fast cooler, if he is, and we have clearance problems, i can chuck the cooler up in the mill and trim them down to any desired height we may need that day.

Phil, I was going to do the install myself, but if a dry fitting looks like it won't go, I'll bring them along to Brandon's. Sounds like you got a plan to make 'em fit

I will let you know when I'll be at Brandon's. It will be some Saturday next month I think.

Yipee!! They will indeed fit. I did a dry run today, will be doing the actuall install next weekend. But they will fit. Will need to put the bolts through the cooler and then lift it into position, otherside you will NOT be able to get the top bolt in if you put the cooler up there first.

Ok whats a fast cooler:confused:

O and by the way I now have a muffler-less truck now :D Very cool I must say. I think I may have mad a few people mad when I went camping this weekend backing my boat up a steep grade into a small area. Everyone was comming over and checking out the truck.

When we put the Fastcoolers on at Pier's a couple of months ago, we didn't like the 1/4" clearence on the copilot side. We had them milled down 1/2" to better clear the 4" Banks exhaust.

I would think that it varies between trucks.
