Anyone with Goat Heads?

Anyone have or know what these are? We call them goat heads, they will grow where nothing else will and you for sure don't want to step on them in your bare feet

I hate the dang things. Only other thing I ever heard them called is puncturevine weeds. Bad enough when the goat heads are still on the vine even worse after they fall off and dry out. Tough to kill them too. They do seem to grow where nothing else will but if they get in a decent area they will crowd out the good stuff.
