Anyone with Volvo diesel experience?

The Volvo TD40 and the TD60 foremost, both are 6-cylinder 4 & 6 liter engines used in trucks and boats.



I have a TD40 myself and are planning on using it in a -81 Crew.



Just wondering if you guys over there know of them and how they compares to the cummins. I myself have never driven a cummins truck, cause they are scarce as hell. (We dont have many USA-trucks here at all)



My research concludes that the Volvo TD60 is 300 pounds heavier than the C5. 9. . It comes in a lot of trucks (Volvo F6) around here.

I have a little experience with the 4 & 6 cylinder Marine Volvo diesel engine that was in a 9 meter Zodiac RHIB. I throught they were pretty good engines, the out drive sucked. They use a Bosch fuel system from the injector pump to the injectors much like the first gen 12v Cummins. The only think I didn't like about the Marine Volvo diesel is the thermostat house. It always leak coolant around the o-ring seals and are a pain in the @** to change.
