When you start up your computer, does it take a few minutes before you can do anything... it is really annoying!! I have another computer with XP Professional, and it will let you start right away.

Anyone know of any fixes???

I have XP pro, and mine will not let me start right away, I need to wait a few minutes. Your right, it's annoying.

You guys should check how much crap it's loading when you boot. Right after you boot the machine, right click on the taskbar (not the start button) and go to task manager. Down at the bottom of the window, it'll tell you how much memory you're using. The smaller number is what is being used, the larger is what you have available (actual RAM, plus your virtual memory). Mine is using about 220 Meg right after boot and that's with a lot of things running in the background. Usually the more that's being used, means the more that you have to wait to load when you boot.

For the people running XP here is a good site that tells you what services you can kill running in the background.

I'll be back on XP pro when my Cheetah 15k HDD gets back from rma. :{

I had mine trimed down to around 140 meg while setting idle.
