I have a 2004 CTD that the dealer told me the APPS is bad. Where can I buy one for a reasonable price? The dealer is charging $500+ for this part. I have seen post about rebuilding/replacing the reostat is this true? Dealer price to fix was over $800. I just cant understand why it cost soooo much. Thanks for any help

You can get just the pot, but I don't know part number. Take it out of the assembly, and see what number is on it.

Then take it to Cummins distributor and match something up. Most pots are alike.

I know $500 sucks.

I just (last fall) replaced the whole throttle pedal/sensor on a Ferd for $52 delivered to my door (bargain!).

Call a different dealer. Mine was $380 and if fixed it in the parking lot of the dealership with hand tools. Although, the placement of the sensor is differnet on my truck.

2nd and 3rd Gen APPS

Is there any difference in the APPS between a 3rd generation truck and the 2nd generation?
Gary,

I just checked the difference between a 2001 and 2003 Mopar parts manual...

They use the exact same part numbers for the APPS in auto transmission equipped 2nd and 3rd gen trucks. For a manual transmission equipped truck, both 2nd and 3rd gen trucks use the same part number up to 1-1-03 manufacture, then after that date, they show a different part number for the 3rd gen trucks only(not used on the 2nd gen trucks).

Summary of Mopar part numbers

53031575AF, APPS Service with Bellcrank (2nd and 3rd Gen Auto transmission Equipped). $295. 80

53031576AC, APPS Service with Bellcrank (2nd and 3rd Gen Manual transmission Equipped) to 1-1-03. $240. 12

53032456AD, APPS Service with Bellcrank (3rd Gen Only Manual transmission Equipped) after 1-1-03. $148. 68

Prices are from MoparPartsAmerica
