Did a search and only found an old thread from 2021. This weekend, while heading home from Wisconsin, I was using the Car Play (wireless) connection and map function which displays the map/directions on my screen (12 in. version). Long story short, in the middle of the drive, the Car Play stopped functioning. Tried to re-connect to no avail. It's worked flawlessly until now. Am thinking it's a radio issue, not an iPhone issue (I phone 13 fwiw). Only 10k miles on truck so under warranty and will call dealer shortly. Was just wondering if anyone had a similar problem and any fixes? Thanks for any info.

I just finished a 6000 mile, 3 month, trip and used Apple Car Play the entire time. I had two occasions where the Car Play would not wirelessly connect. It "fixed" itself both times after the truck was stopped and restarted. I rebooted my phone (iPhone 13) and that didn't fix it.

Just a quick update. Based on the older thread on this issue, this morning I plugged the phone into the media outlet and in 'wired' mode, the Car Play works. So it must be related to the wireless in some fashion. Will do some more 'trial and error' and see if it resolves.

Here is what Google AI has to say about CarPlay's wireless connection to the vehicle.

"Wireless Apple CarPlay uses Bluetooth to connect a phone to a vehicle, and then uses Wi-Fi for functionality. To connect wirelessly, you can:
  1. Put your stereo in Bluetooth or wireless mode
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi
  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on
  4. Tap the CarPlay network
  5. Check that Auto-Join is turned on
  6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay
  7. Select your car

Is sound quality worse with Wireless CarPlay? Does CarPlay use ...
CarPlay uses Bluetooth to set up the connection between the phone and the vehicle and then it switches to use the WiFi for the actually functionality. You can also use your car's voice command system to set up wireless CarPlay. To do this, you can:
  1. Press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel
  2. Make sure that your vehicle's stereo is in Bluetooth or wireless mode
  3. Find and select your car
CarPlay should initialize, and will continue to do so every time you switch on your engine.
Some cars, like the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado 1500, Honda Accord, Nissan Rogue, and Dodge Durango, have wireless CarPlay. "

Thanks Mcordy. I'll try that approach and see if it connects again wirelessly. Never had any trouble with wireless until the past weekend.
