What really "honks" you off while driving?

We have a whirlpool duet front load washer that is erroring out on the spin cycle. It is showing a F11 code on it.

Are any of you appliance guys out there?

I hate to pay Standard a couple hundred bucks if it's something simple I can replace.

The washer is about 2. 5 years old.

On the back of the machine should be the pouch that has the "Code List " in it. I can go grab mine tomorrow if you don't have yours. EVERY appliance is easy to work on ... it is just the diag and patient work needed to repair it that can save you a ton of cash if you don't mind doing th ework. Whirlpools have some of the best engineered parts IMHO out there (Not only because I am certified with them) when compared to GE and believe it or not Maytag. They design weak links in all their replaceable parts to save more expensive large ticket items such as transmissions, and motors.

Ahh mine is a Cabrio Series ... HOWEVER

Appliance Fault Codes

Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.

Potential Causes

• Check Wire Harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)

• Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components

• Check MCU

• Check CCU

• Check Motor

• Check Wire Harness

I have seen this before when it goes into spin the vibrations cause the wire harness to shake and chafe against the metal hole they go through. they wear away the insulation at the contact point and a quick zap shuts it down until you unplug it or power down to reset it.

Another instance is pocket change getting underneath the front panel on the top of the washer causing a quick short. Spin cycles show shorts, as the washer shakes as it counterbalances the oscelatios. This is where shorts come into play. An "Ecu is bad from the start, whereas the washer is making it to the spin cycle leads me to believe a shorted condition.

Thanks a ton for the info. I did find last night something like what you just posted by doing a google search. Lots of info on the F11 code.

I am going to be out of town this weekend so if I dont' get to it before that I will tear it apart next week.

It would be great if it's just a short somewhere and I can replace/repair the wire and be on my way.

The part that sucks is my laundry room isn't that big and the dryer is stacked on top of it and there is a big pantry next to it. Kinda makes for some awkwardness.
