I need some help troubleshooting an ongoing issue I have had with my truck. I have had little success finding someone who can fix it, dealers, cummins franchise, transmission shop. During normal driving @ 35 when shifting from 2nd to "D" it will surge between gears. Also the same around 45-50 when shifting from "D" to "OD". I had the apps replaced 30k ago and the problem was solved for about a week. The condition has typically been there but has gone away for short periods of time. The last time I had the transmission serviced 5k ago the condition disappeared for a week or so. Shortly after that I lost my vp44 (2nd time) and had that replaced. 2 weeks after the vp44 was replaced my check engine light started coming on. The only code I can pull up is P1693. Also since the check engine light, my tach sometimes stops working. Sometime when the tach is not working and I am coming to a stop the engine starts to "hunt". It has also failed to start on several occasions and I have had to reset the apps to get it going. It has once died on me while idling at an intersection. Fortunately it started after a few tries without having to reset the apps. I have been reading some of the threads and I am not sure what to do? I have thought about taking it to the dealer and have them pull any codes out of the ECM to narrow it down.
How important are the batteries? The batteries I have are older.
What about a new apps from Timbo?
New crank sensor? I have replaced this before for a completely dead tach. Cam sensor? It has never been replaced.
ECM? Have their been problems with these?
