I got my new APPS today from Hoesli Diesel... fast shipping... and will install later tonite... I will also install the noise filter described by Steve Clayton later on this week... here is my ??

Steve describes 2 wires to tap into... the signal wire, and the return wire... I tried to contact Steve, but his e mail got kicked back... what wires is he describing, and do I bridge the 2 ???he says as close to the PCM module on the firewall, is the best place, I just don't know which wires they are. . and if I do indeed bridge them...

Thanks for your help

He's talking about soldering a cap betwen the TPS SIG wire (+ on an electrolytic cap - they are polarity sensitive) and SIG RETURN (- on the cap). You'll have to bare the wire, solder the proper (+ or -) cap lead, and then wrap it back up. When you are done, the cap is between the signal and return line, and should filter out spikes and noise, resulting in a clean DC voltage level signal.

To find the wire color codes at the PCM, you need to look in a shop manual for your year truck.

Looking at your signature, you have a 24V truck. The page you reference for the noise filter applies to 12V trucks. Don't think this applies to your APPS.

DTT makes a noise filter for the 24V trucks. I'd go that route.

I got the DTT noise filter for my ETC 02 and it goes on the Orange/Blue tracer (APPS signal) pin #23 on C1 to ground to get any spikes off the APPS signal wire.

Looks simple to install, good instructions came with it. DTT will also send the APPS calibration instructions if you request it when they send the noise filter.

Well... I tried the new APPS... that didn't do the fix. . so I bought a capacotor, and soldered it in, as Steve suggests in his post... thast didn't do it either. . still 1st gear, and maybe if I'm lucky it shifts to second... I can't throw any more parts at it... it looks like I have to take it to the shop...

DANG IT !!!

With a walk thru with Bill K. , It's up and running... . ended up being the pressure governer in the trans... I replaced it and both the pressure switch, and the sensor... pretty easy replace, plus the trans got serviced besides...

runs and shifts fine now... . Oh well !!! i have a bunch more new parts on my truck that I won't have to replace later...

I am glad to see you are up and running, wish we knew you needed help before you spent all that money especilly with the the APPS having nothing to do with it. It is so darn expensive. I will let Bill know you are good to go so the girls can put your file away.
