Hi, can't remember which wire it is, I want to say no. 14, it's black with a green stripe and will say APPS on it. If you splice that an ground it it will take care of your problem, I did that on my old auto truck. I never had to get a noise filter. Also, I learned that trick from somebody else on here, instructions from sun coast transmission web site, so it's legit

Question; how long has it been since you have replaced the alternator? As others have commented, when the slip rings wear out they generate noise. Also, do the SunCoast re-wire and clean all battery connections. Take it from one who has fought this issue and skip the noise filter addition; it is temporary at best.
Good luck

just replace batteries, two months ago. alternator is original one. all posts are clean. What is the sun coast wire.

There was a second Suncoast rewire that involved separating wires leaving the Alternator and running one down the passenger side of the engine and across the firewall. Anyone have details on that rewire?

Found this! http://www.kentsoil.com/dodgebug1.htm

In the past I read somewhere on tdr that on the diesel eng. you should only buy a new alternator and not a rebuilt alternator, because of the amp draw. has anyone put a rebuilt alt in there truck. where can I get a new alt at a good price. I see geno's has a rebuild kit also. thanks
