Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) apps question

We have a 1999 dodge 2500 4 wheel drive with th 24 vlave cummins diesel automatic trans mission. I teach at the edward J Milliken technical center on Long Island. The students are working on the truck. It is having a shifting problem. We have come up with an apps code. I was wondering if anyone knows where we can purchase an apps for this truck other than the dealer. thanks
