I've been having the problem with my TCC locking and unlocking in the 40-50 mph range. Today I disconnected the NEG ground cables from both batteries for 30 minutes, cleaned them and reconnected. Gave it a short test drive tonight with no problems.

If the problem comes back, my next step is going to be checking the voltage at the APPS. I looked for the APPS today and it looks to be under the black plastic cover on the drivers side front of the engine.

What is the best way to get access to the APPS and the wiring connector?

Has anyone had any luck with adjusting the APPS?

Thanks- CDrake

The first thing you should do is make sure you have the tsb flash performed... ..... then there are many more concerns to take care of. Apps voltage is not an issue if you have no codes.

The APPS is not adjustable (according to the service manual).

I had to replace mine because of a voltage drop-out. I don't remember which pin it was (however, I posted it about a year or so ago, if you do a search, I wrote how to test).

Don't forget, after you diconnect your batteries, to reset your APPS by turning the key to ON, then depress the accelerator slowly to the floor, then slowly get off it, shut the key off. Then start her up.

Warning: If you damage your apps its a $500 part. Mine started acting like I took my foot off of the gas pedal and posting code P0122. On my 2000 there are 2 screws on the top and front and 2 plastic pieces that the screws go into come out, then there are 2 tabs to be pressed in on the front and bottom towards the rear of the cover, to pop the cover off. 6 bolts hold it to the engine block and removing them is the way to get to the connector. The cruise control cable was a pain to take off the sensor. The service manual says not to adjust it (but it also says you cant rebuild the vaccum pump--))

Call DTT and get there electrical noise filter for the transmission wiring. Fixes the problem. 1-866-504-4002. SNOKING

CDrake,

If you do end up having to replace your APPS, check out my Reader's Rigs gallery (click the link under my user name). I have a photo gallery I made when I replaced mine.

Thats the direction i'm heading with this problem.

I had the TSB reflash about 3 years ago and it worked for a while. It has acted up a few times and than fixed itself, so I know it's not a hard failure of the APPS or PCM. When I did the APPS reset procedure yesterday, I cycled the gas pedal down & back up, then started the truck. I have read that some people turn the IGN off after doing this and some start the truck... ... . Anyone know which is the proper way?

As for checking the APPS voltage and maybe adjusting it, I got that from-

http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmission/automatic/TPS_adjust.htm

I want to verify the APPS setting before I install the DTT noise filter.

Are you setting any codes??? If not, I wouldn't mess with the APPS. I am still in the process of trying to resolve a problem with my truck. Got the APPS codes P-0122 & P-0123, changed out the APPS ( $418. 00) and now I get the same codes whenever I turn on my AC????

Apparently no one on the TDR has had this problem but me? I'll post the results if I ever get it figured out.
