i am a 12v owner. i have a kit for fixing the tps on the 12v's.

symptom: transmission is shifting in and out of gear or the torque converter is locking and unlocking especially on slight grades under light throttle. You will notice a 100-300rpm increase while driving in 4th or 5th gear. Sometimes you might feel the rpm surge when you hit a bump.

problem: electrical noise in the wiring harness.

solution: rewire the tps.

i have been asked by several 24v owners to incorporate the 24v instructions in my kit.

i have a couple of questions:

as i understand the wiring diagram, the ground, signal, and supply wires are all dedicated. correct me if i'm wrong. ?

how many connectors on the pcm and which connector does the apps wire up to?

where is the pcm located? i. e. how far from the apps to the pcm?

thanks.

scott.

Different years have different info. Wire colors change from the 00 trucks to the 01 and then again with the 02's. Problem is with simple rewire job the PCM will put transmission into limp mode. Pre 98. 5 auto trans was (computer) very simple compared to 98. 5 and up.

can you explain how rewiring the apps outside of the loom will limp the trans. ?

if the wires are dedicated as i've seen, then how can this not work?

thanks. scott.

Most of the noise that messes up the tps signal comes from the voltage regulator builtin to the ECM. As the motor gets older time and heat cause small electrical interferences to grow larger. The tps signal on 98. 5 to 02 trucks goes in the ecm to pcm to transmission. Just rewiring or bypassing either of the control modules causes the computer to detect an open circuit fault which will limit boost and fuel delivery to engine.

wow, bill... ..... the 12v ecm/pcm is setup the same way. voltage regulator integrated. i am not suggesting rewiring the ecm. i rewire from the ecm to the tps.

so why is there so many apps problems on the 24v's? i would suggest it is because of electrical noise in the harness. not from hot ecm's. just a thought. ... ... ... .
