Hey guys,

I've got no throttle in my 02. I was driving to work this morning and I lost all peddle. The truck doesn't die, I just lose throttle input. The only code I am retrieving at key on key off... ... . is the generic 1693 code. Anyway I sit waiting for my wife, and the thing starts working again. I got 5 more miles and had to pull over again. Before I even got a comfortable place to stop it started working again. This happened three more times, each time less and less downtime. The truck runs great, I just lose throttle. As far as symptoms; I have the noticed that the idle as gone awry the last few days. It goes from normal to around 1100rpm. It runs good, just has been idling funny. I don't know if I'm crazy or what, but it seems to only happen when it is wet outside. Also, I don't know if it matters, but I have an Edge Comp with a drag upgrade installed. I have trouble getting the comp to turn on. I have to turn the key to on twice to get it to light up. I wonder if this has effected something. Now its in the parking lot at work, and when I stopped it had no throttle again. HELP!!!

1693 is a code telling you that there is a problem in the ECM or PCM. It sounds similar to what mine did in Feb. My APPS was the culprit as well as the brain of the VP44, yep both went belly up.

Before you start throwing parts at it get all the codes pulled. For me its usually worth a trip to the dealer to run a diagnostic on the truck to get the codes then run after you find out whats going on.

Lost throttle twice on the way home, and when I finally did get there I was idling at about 1500 rpm. I rechecked the codes got 0122 which is Throttle position sensor low voltage. Adjusted and drove 25 miles, no incident. Wild huh?

First, simple, free thing I would do after pulling codes is reset APPS. Plenty of info on this site on how to do that. Then I would clean ALL ground connections and then I've had great success doing the APPS mod posted on the ATS transmission web site for re-wire/bypass of APPS. Link below...

I doubt this is the answer but it can't hurt anything to do it.

If that doesn't result in joy than I have no answers. I hope you find an answer and would like to hear how you eventually get it fixed.

Chuck

EDIT:

Sorry, after re-reading your original post I realized it wasn't so much a transmission problem as a power problem. Loose electrical connection?? I stepped in it... .
