Are aftermarket 3:55 gears available? If so, where?

I've got the 3:73 gears in my 03' 3500 5 speed. I hate them. I had no idea there was that much difference from the 3:54 gears. My 01' 6 speed would run 118 mph. This truck will only run 99 mph. Is anyone offering a ring and pinion set for these new trucks?

WOW! I won't ask where you drive that you need a top speed of 118!



I don't think there are any other gear ratios currently available for either the AAM 10. 5" or 11. 5" rear end. I can only assume that if you wait long enough, there will be.



In the meantime, you could compensate by getting larger-diameter tires. It's interesting, the O/D ratios on the NV5600 and 4500 are very similar (0. 72 and 0. 75, respectively), yet I thought I heard maximum speed on the 6-speeds was 109 at the redline.

Well, my 01 was 500+ hp. I'm just not used to the sluggishness of a stocker. I don't necesarily need a top speed of 118, but I like to know its there. I enjoyed just getting out on the interstate running it as hard as it would go. And heres something else, I just got my 01 stripped down and its completely stock. It has a good bit more power than the 03. I can't verify the difference on the dyno, but the stock 01 with 15k #'s climbed the same hill 4 seconds faster than the 03. Its a 6% grade and the 01 would gain speed the entire pull, the 03 would barely maintain its speed at 80 mph. I just hope the chip, injectors and turbo help a great deal or I may be selling it and keeping my 01.

I plan to go to taller tires to raise my final ratios. Currently there are no gear sets on the market.

Yeah my bone stock '01 would do 118 mph too, my '03 maxes at only 108. . . speed limiter (not governor) kicks in.



I talked to American Axle about 6 months ago and they said to expect more ratios to come available, but nothing right now

I would expect a stock '01 ETH to have more power than a stock '03 ETC. 245/505 vs. 250/460. Am I missing something?
