I just installed a Westach FP Guage & At 90,000 miles my readings are:

Idle 11 PSI

65 MPH: 10 PSI

WOT: 8 PSI

Seems kinda low & after reading all the posts on "Lift Pump" failures. Does anyone know if these are covered by Cummins up to 100 K & at what is the pressure will it be replaced under warranty?

To say it another way. He was off his 36k bumper to bumper. And they covered it under warranty. So is it the emissions warranty? Couldnt tell you. Ive read of people getting it under warranty at 97k. Thats well over the emissions. Well on gassers at least.

According to my dealer, the lift pump is covered under the 100,000 mile Cummins engine warranty (personally, I think that's why they put it up there instead of back by the tank where it should be - then Cummins gets to pick up the tab). Also, my dealer only uses idle as a measuring stick for the pressure. I know, I know. Mine has been about 12 at idle, and down to 4 at WOT since I put my fuel pressure gauge on. We all know that's too low, but at idle - they say it's in spec. Now I see 0 more often than not at cruise, and sometimes 0 at idle, and sometimes around 6 at idle - it's all over the place. So, clearly, it's dying. I just have to get it there at the right time when the reading will support my claim that's it's toast. The last time I thought I had them, it was 0 all the way home from work - then it shot up to 12 when I pulled into the driveway! My service manager also says it won't run on 0 pressure, but we know that's not true either.

I would replace that pump soon or carry one with you mine got crazy like that then just died out of no where.

I put my 99 in this week for brakes, and had a guage installed at the same time. Left the shop and got about 2 miles down the road when the guage went to 0 at WOT of the line. Came back up to 3 at idle. Drove back to the dealer and after further checking a new lift pump was installed. My mileage is about 96k.

I had my lift pump replaced at 92K and was covered by the warranty. I told the stealer I was having hard starting probs ;) and no questions asked. Good Luck!

I started my truck up when I got home from today to see what the FP guage would read... ..... It started & read 0, then about 15 seconds later it went to 5 PSI so I immediately drove it to the dealer.

I spoke to the service manager & told him what was going on with the FP pressures all across the board & POOF..... He checked my mileage & warranty status & I have an appt. for this Wednesday to get it replaced under warranty!!!

I explained my situation going over the pass & that I thought that low FP was a contributing factor & he agreed & stated that 8 PSI is the minimum operating pressure... . BAM! New lift pump...

Good luck to all with LP woes! Appears DC is going to fix it!!!:) :) :) :)

Do I need Dodge to do the warranty work on the lift pump or can I take it to a Cummins shop to do it, and still have it replaced free???

I'd much rather deal with Cummins mechanics than the Dodge monkeys.
