I just traded for an 04 3500 2wd 4door dually. The front end seems to be real low. There is about an inch of play before bottoming out on the rubber stop. Is this normal? I had a 97 3500 2wd ext cab dually a few years back and I had to put a step on it for mama to get in. :D This truck is about cheek high for mama. ;)

The tires don't show any unusal wear, it doesn't pull to either side and you can't tell if it is bottoming out or not. The stopper above the rubber stop is shinny like it is hitting all the time. It rides real good tho.

I am puzzled but more concerned about beating the front end up. I haven't been on the site here for some time and I know very little if anything about this 04 truck.

I sure would appreciate any feedback I could get on this. Not sure if the springs have become weak or what.

Thanks

I have a 3500 with a flat-bed on it and carry up to 10,000# on the bed all the time. I have noticed the front sits lower, but have not felt it bottom out as of today. I do have a set of air-bags on the back though. I usually load most of my weight over the rear axle too and put the lighter pallets close to the front. I do agree with you, it seems like they would have raised the front about 2 inches though.

KWAYNE have you looked at the rubber stoppers to see if they been hitting? I haven't felt mine bottom out either but the looks of the stoppers says different.

Thanks for the reply

Take it to a truck shop that specializes in springs and suspension. They can evaluate the situation and tell you if you have a problem.

Yes it does look like they hit sometimes, cause the rubber is clean where its hit, but I do overload mine alot. I didnt know until after I bought my truck that you can now oder heavy springs for the front when you buy the truck. You could go to a spring shop but it will cost at least 500 or more to get it done and it will make your truck ride alot rougher. You will hit your head on the ceiling everytime you hit a bump. Thats why i went with Firestone adjustable air-bags on the rear. I love them. You can change the lift or ride as you drive down the road to get the ride you want.

I had a 04 2wd 2500 with the hemi and it rode about 3/4" above the bump stop. it didn't ride bad but if you got on a bumpy road it handled crappy. It was a handful a times. WE tryed a few things such as rubber spacers in the coils and better shocks but it never got better.
