Are there more then one factory rear diffs out there. In my 07 i have an anti spin and it always spins 2. My 04 had an anti spin and it was a crap shoot. In my 09 that i don't have yet but waiting on claims that it but not on the window sticker. I was woundering if there are options in the factory form. the dealers all tell me that the anti spin in factory but my other 2 trucks it was on the window stickers.

All 2500s with the SO Cummins engines had the 10. 5" axle in the rear, all HOs and 3500s had the 11. 5" axle.

So that means after 04. 5 all Cummins got the 11. 5" axle.

And yes there is an anti spin and open diff available.

This is not correct. The 10. 5 was standard in these trucks but the majority of them were actually made with the 11. 5. The few "SO" trucks that came with the 48re transmission will all have the 11. 5. Anything "HO" will have the 11. 5.

As for functionality, the limited slip American axles uses is clutcheless. It functions more like a spool that a power lock. The more torque you put to it the better it works. Slick grass, mud, ice, not so good. Dragging the brakes usually helps. Asphault or sledpulling it should lock up hard.

There is an open diff and a anti-spin diff, If your unsure and don't want to rely on what the dealer said you can give the guys at the service department your VIN # and ask for a "options report"... . It's free and you'll have a 2 page print out of the build sheet that details the standard equipment, optional equipment, special equipment and dealer installed options on your truck. The anti-spin rear diff is option code DSA and will be located on page 2 of the print out.
