I recently noticed that the vertical front part of the hood that holds the grille was not firm. I looked under the raised hood and saw that the grille section is held to the remainder of the hood by four plastic brackets, three of which had fractured. I secured all four points with cable ties, and the grille is now firm. Does anyone else have this issue? Here's a photo of one of the broken brackets with the cable tie attached:

Mine is like that as well. Used some epoxy (JB Weld) and it held for about a year before it cracked again.

Recently noticed that the "chrome" finish on the grille is starting to bubble now as well. What's up with that?

My 96 was broke when I bought it and I thought it was a normal noise when the hood closed and never really looked at it until last year. 170K and the grill is still on it.

Mine were until I replaced the grill. i got one of those knock off's from eBay... it looks and fit good.

before i replaced my grill from lmctruck.com I noticed mine were cracked but not all the way through the tab I guess my truck had the special edition adjustable grill. :-laf
