Caterpillar oil filters on a Dodge/Cummins

Well I've had an areoturbine muffler (supposed to lower egt's, lower turbo lag, & possibly gain mpg) installed for a few weeks now & figured I'd post my results.

My previous setup was a 4" downpipe from a PDR hx40-16cm to 16" of 4" pipe beside the transfer case to a 4" to 5" chrome adapter to a 5" stainless flexpipe 42" long to a 5" chrome stack 41" long.

The Areoturbine fit beside the transfer case taking the place of the 4"x16" pipe (fit perfect??)

First I noticed a very slight increase in egt's at 70mph (20-50*) yet the turbo seemed to spool quicker?? I have seen no measureable deacrease or increase in turbo lag. Now for the head scratcher, wot egt's have been lowered (50*-60*) & are considerbly slower (that is the temp does not climb as fast) I think I can still peg the gauge I just don't want to hold it to the floor that long. I'm not shure about milage yet.

I will add a gauge to test drive preasure soon & will post my results. I would also like to dyno my truck & was curious to know

if anyone knows of a good shop in the Stephenville-Waco, Dallas-FT. Worth area??

Thanks, Zac

Hey zjones how about an update.

on the Aeroturbine, I'm really curious to all the previously mentioned + noise level, does it sound good on the cummins, is it a good performance muffler?

Thanks JJ

It is a little (very little) quieter than a straight pipe, & has a deeper tonal roar; as far as a muffler (to lower noise), not enough difference between a straight pipe to warrant the price.

I've been to busy to install a manifold pressure gauge but I plan to soon.

I have not run a muffler with it. I went from a straight pipe to the Areoturbine.

As far as egt's are concerned I'm not sure it helped. ??. I'll know more once the gauge is installed, but so far my theory is that by installing the Areo I have slowed down the exhaust gasses just enough to allow it to cool slightly before hitting the egt probe therfore the slightly lower egt's. ??. or mabe it works?? Hmm not sure that helps :-laf
