I got the ASA modified intake kit from PDR. :) I was wandering about the hardware that came with it. I really have not looked at everything real close. One of the rubber boots comes off the turbo and onto the metal intake kit doesn't it? Like I said I really have not looked under the hood neither to see what I need to do. I have seen Pictures.

Do I need to take th big box out?

What are the bolts in the plastic bag for.

Does the cone just sit there on the fender wheel or does it mount somehow?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know Pastor Bob knows how to do this.

Get in touch with SamsRams (Sam Ayers) You can find him in the members list. He designed the ASA and should be able to help you.

The big box does come out. You need to attach the tube to the front of the turbo where you took your existing hose off at. And yes, as far as I know, the filter is positioned close to where that big box was.

Otherwise, I haven't worked with that kit so I don't know anything else about it.

CB I couldn't open your picture my computer wouldn't let me. I would appreciate it if you emailed the picture to me if you can at jrenaker17@uky. edu. It might let it me open it that way.

So does it sit on the fender wheel?

I can't wait to put it in. I am going to attempt it tommorow morning. I have got all of those parts and do not know what to do with them. Hopefully I will figure it out with all of the feedback that I get from TDR and a little time.

No, it should not sit on the fender well. Also, that is not a picture, it's a link.

If the link still doesn't work, go to "sams rams" reader's rigs gallery, which you can get to via a button at the top of the screen. Then when you get to that section, you will see a little menu down by the bottom if you scroll down. Then go through that list to find sam.

Hope that helps.

Back in the saddle...

Ani17uk - My apologies - Normally I reply much sooner to threads that apply to me, and this definitely qualifies ;)

I've been out of the loop for about 4 days - my work schedule has been killing me lately - lots of long hours and no time to surf the TDR! Work, sleep, eat (repeat, repeat, repeat... )

Your questions are well founded and I can easily solve. To do so, best bet for response to this, in light of the marketing issues, is to drop me a line, send a private message or e-mail. I can't advertise or provide component pro's and con's via the threads - 'tis against TDR policy, but I can off line, and would be happy to work with you over the phone. Easiest is to call at (805) 735-9408, or e-mail at -- email address removed --

Be sure to leave your return number, and we'll get you good to go. Thanks also to JW, CB, and BG that have replied in my 'stead - much appreciated fellas!

I'm also preparing to move again - going back to Colorado, Specifically Colorado Springs. Should be making the haul around mid-April. I'm hoping to hook up with a TDR club in the Rocky Mountain region when I get back (I used to live there... ). Not much interest in my area here in central Cali.

Hasta,

- Sam

Maybe I'm confused. Didn't sound like an advertising question or pro/con thing to me. Sounded like Ani17uk was looking for some answers to technical questions on a product that could interest other members of TDR like myself. Can you let us know if the sits on the fender well or is it somehow supported?

Thanks

... well, as long as Pastor Bob doesn't give me a 10 hp penalty... !

Okay, the filter (heavy) end essentially sits in mid air and is supported by a small but sturdy support assembly that comes with the kit. It is very flexible and allows the filter / intake to move and shake with the engine without straining the rubber coupler or seals on the turbo. The entire stock intake system (airbox, filter, rubber/plastic intake tube, and hardware) are removed, and replaced with our stand-alone Intake kit. The pics on my readers rigs are a little outdated, as the filters we're now using are much bigger than the ones pictured. At the time we shot those pics we were still trying to find sources for the big filters.

Thanks for your replies - happy to help.
