On the new transmission there looks to be either a temp probe or pressure prob in one of the transmission cooler lines at the transmission... .

Can someone confirm or deny my statement above... . and is there a service manual available on line for the 5500 like I was forwarded to for our 3500's

It's the Torque Converter temp sensor. The AS68RC uses two temp sensors to determine shift and lock up logic. One is in the valve body for sump temp, and the other is in the cooler line off the converter.

Sag2 --- Thank you...

OK is there any kind of display or over temp indicator when this happens... .

We are putting this truck into service and it will run at 19,500-20,000 lbs it's whole life and I'm concerned about transmission temp... .

I've also found a 10 micron filter that holds 2 qts of fluid for some additional cap... and keeping it clean... its rated at 25 GMP... . I assume this is within the spec's of the pump... . that is will not restrict the flow... .

You mentioned the cooler line with the sensor... is this the line back to the transmission so that it is measuring return oil temperature... ... or temperature out to the cooler... . I'd like the filter on the return line..... unless your logic suggest something I've not considered...

The sensor is in the outlet line. I don't know what the flow spec is on the cooler, but I would think 25 gpm should be more than adequate.
