Engine Oil in Radiator CASE 504BD Engine

Anyone read the article by Robert Patton page 80 Issue 47 of the TDR magazine. I have been thinking for some time myself about adding the B&M drain plug kit in the stock pan.

Reading on in the article I see his max temp was 195*F, I have not seen a reading that high with my X-Monitor. The highest I've seen is 160*F with my 28ft TT(around 6000lbs) in August, 2004, outside temp was 97*F.

Has anyone relocated a probe to pan area verse what the X-Monitor instructions call for. I believe it use's the factory sensor for it's reading. Could the factory sensor be off that much.

Also if someone was not going to use a trans gauge how about mounting drain plug in the bottom of pan.

Seems low

That max temp you see seems low to me. I have the XMonitor with a sensor in the fluid line to the cooler, not the factory sensor. I also have ATS's lockup controller and their triple lock convertor. In the same approximate ambient as you, pulling 9000 pounds, I saw 160-175 locked up, and 195 unlocked. Those seem like more normal readings, to me. I suggest you put in a separate sensor, or at least first try to verify the readings with an external temp probe.

Ron I thought it was a little low myself, I tow very little since my wife had her car wreck in March 03. So back in Aug was the first time I had the trailer hooked up since the X-Monitor was installed. Running around with out a load I'm seeing 130-150*F, I sure thought I would see higher temps with the TT hooked up.
