Ok, First post. My question is: Is it worth doing the upgrade? Background: My 2002 RAM 2500 5.9 w/ 47RE (178K miles) which has a $6K trans rebuild / upgrade is leaking fluid out the electrical connection plug. Could be that the o-rings are dried / dead and were not replaced when it was rebuilt or could be plastic is old and cracked and / or leaking down the wire connectors. I have to keep a sheet of plywood under the truck because of the leak and add fluid.
I've had the truck for a year, purchased from a co-worker/ friend. The Shop that did the rebuild work want's $500 to replace the connector.. I was looking to do the work myself *( I feel very comfortable doing this) and was thinking of putting in one of the Oregon Performance Transmission "solenoid upgrade Kits" @ ~$180. I have the receipt from the rebuild and they did not replace any of the solenoids (or the connector plug). The transmisson works fine except for what I feel is a very quick up shift from 3rd to 4th w/ converter lock-up
Worth doing or spend just the ~$70 for the new harness / connector and factory solenoids? These prices don't include fluid, filter or gasket.
Thanks for any input.
