At 1 in the morning last night while replacing my transmission filter, I noticed ATF dripping down from the FRONT FITTING (Heat Exchanger?) under the exhaust manifold. I tugged on the metal line very delicately and the line came COMPLETELY out of the fitting! The small metal wire retaining clip was broke and hanging freely in the fitting.

I've read as much as I can in the TDR and search threads, but I still need some help...

What is the official name of the round canister under the exhaust manifold? Is is simply a heat exchanger?

I need to get a fitting and the Dealer is closed till Monday - argh!

TDR issue 35 page 45 mentions Part Number CH00118752, Engine Cooler Fitting, Price $3. 01 Is this the fitting that I need?

Is this a Dodge (Dealer-only) part number? If so, does anyone know of a comparable aftermarket part number that I might be able to find today?

I don't have internet at home and drove 12 miles to post this. I'll wait around for a bit and hope someone can help with this SOON before I have to head back home.

Thanks everyone!

If possible please PM me with your direct phone number and I'll call you right back. THANKS !!!!

I'm surprised that your fittings lasted this long in your '95. The best bet is to get compression fittings to replace all four transmission cooler line quick disconnect fittings. The compression end is 1/2". I can't remember that size of the NPT end, but it is different on the transmission from the ones in the cooler. Best to take a couple of samples to the nearest hardware store or parts store.
