Latest idiocy in PRK

The question is, will they get them back? I suspect that they will at least be held until this guy (or guys) are caught.

Of course the ballistic "fingerprinting" (snapshot would be a better description) is just about worthless. The uppers on the AR-15 can easily be changed out from what I understand. After that, the fingerprint wouln't match since there is a different barrel. From what I have heard, all the shots have been 50 to 150 yards. Those ranges are not impossible for a scoped Contender. Just turn the Contender in with a different . 223 barrel, or don't admit to having a . 223 barrel (no paperwork on the barrels, just the action).

Dont believe it unless you know firsthand. If this was happening, it would be all over the news.
Someone here posted on another thread that the news has reported this. Just hasn't been reported very often.

edit: Shovelhead was the one who saw it on the local news.

This was "borrowed" from one of our local news sites.

WJLATV9.com to be exact.

Quote:

Law enforcement sources said the investigation by federal, state and local authorities has led to information about a number of people with high-powered guns, both legally and illegally owned.

A firearms safety instructor said the FBI has been asking registered owners of . 223-caliber guns to bring them in for ballistic fingerprinting.

"They're looking for suspects," said Mike Heffernan, owner of Self Defense Technologies in Kensington. "They're looking at people who have a background in firearms, possess . 223 weapons, and have the capability of using them. "

Molon Labe = Come and get them.

No flame intended, but exactly which news would want to broadcast this?

Molon Labe
Been in my sig for a while now.

I watch the news, and listen to the radio news daily. I havent heard anything about it yet. I guess if FOXNEWS mentioned it, I would be more inclined to believe it. Hearing about it on the WEB doesnt get me going. If you say you heard about it on the radio then I believe you. Not if you heard that a friend heard about it. I hope there is nothing to it. If so, then everyone should refuse to answer any questions regarding ownership of the firearm or answering any questions if they are , in fact, calling . 223 owners. Let them get 5,000 warrants to search houses. Let them prove that you didnt sell the gun to friends, or strangers at gunshows. Good Luck, Big Brother, in tracking down all . 223 owners, and their guns.

SDalton,

The news stations might be a little different in Tejas. ;)

WUSA is one of the 3 major networks in the DC area.

They're also the one the Chief of Police in Montgomery County called on the carpet, along with the Washington Post, for releasing info on the Tarot card found at a crime scene.

I'm not holding my breath, waiting for this news story to break on any the radio or TV stations around here.

The demographic is just "slightly" more HCI oriented in "these parts". ;)

edit: spelling error

A member of packing.org called the NRA-ILA office, and they confirmed that they have had many reports of this, and apparently they were referring people to lawyers in the area. NRA is still investigating and said they will post news on their web page as soon as the confirm things for sure. You can check out this thread for more info. This is not cool at all. I would tell them to stick it. Molon Labe!
