Some may have see my other posts about going back in forth with my new boss about what truck i need for work. . he didn't want to spend the money on a diesel but i final beat it in to him and i found a great deal on this one for about 7k under sticker. the other picture is the new trailer we picked up. its on the big side of what we needed but i'd rather have it and not need it. the truck was delivered friday and 24 hrs later i was on the road for a 1100 mile trip to miami towing the trailer. been a fun ride at times. . I need to put a rear sway bar and air bags on it and add a sway control to the trailer. total weight with current load is just under 20k. haven't hand calculated the mileage yet the first day on the road the computer said 8. 3 mpg so far today iafter resetting it it says 9. 3.

Very Nice! I have the sway bar and airbags, makes a big difference. Once you put a sway system on the trailer it will be a lot nicer. How did she pull that trailer???

MA2LA, I was one of the members that gave you advise, I'm glad it worked out for you. It is a nice looking truck, and should not have a problem pulling that weight.

The truck has been great. The 6. 7 with the 68re trans and 4. 10s pulls like a train. a little disappointed on the mileage but the trailer is a a parachute and i know the truck isn't broken in by any stretch. The power it has and how it uses it is amazing for a stock truck and comparing it to all of the trucks i have driven and towed with and my 06 is pretty strong. the 2 best things are by far the Exhaust break and the ability to shift gears with the buttons(soooo wish i had those on my 06) I'll be content to keep it stock and let it do its job for me although the temptaion to see what it can do with a few things is tempting but i still have my 06 to play with so i'll keep away from the mods to the new one

I install kitchen equipment in restaurants, so on my way down to Miami i was hauling all of the custom fab stuff from a shop up north and have been going to the warehouse down here to bring stuff to the job such as refrigerators and ovens and such. I normally work around the DC area though. had a load of just under 9k in the trailer yesterday and still have no real numbers on what the trailer weights empty but I'm guessing around 4k and the truck pulls great just need to stiffen up the suspension a little more.

9k of load in the trailer is a pretty good load on a tandem axle box trailer. Those trailers usually have 15" wheels and tires with 5200 lb. axles.

What axles, wheels, and tires does the trailer have?

I suppose you know that your truck should have DOT numbers and stop at scales. You are commercial.

Harvey is right, most times those trailers have 15" wheels on them. I see you posted about sway issues...
Before spending the money on a bunch of expensive hitches and sway bars, you should put a good set of 16" truck tires and rims on it. You'll be amazed how much difference it makes.

Years ago I had a 20' enclosed Pace and made the mistake of only getting 3500lb axles and therefore 15" wheels. Damn trailer always swayed even though I had a w/d hitch and sway bars. Finally somebody suggested better wheels and tires. Bingo! Problem solved.

Now I have a 30' long 10' tall Pace with 6k axles and 16" wheels. Pulls great with no sway control or w/d whatsoever.

I had made the mistake with 3500# axles before on my 24 ft carmate. this time a round its 2 6800# axles forgot the size but i think the tires are the 235 85 16 i think made by duro witch i have had good luck with in the past. And ya I know we need to get the numbers but time didn't permit. took delivery on friday afternoon and 24 hrs later i was on the road heading south.

You did a good job spec'ing out that enclosed trailer with 6800 lb. axles and 16" wheels and tires.

Many of them are sold with the minimum 3500 lb. axles and crappy little 14" or skinny 15" tires that can't carry a trailer full of air to the uninformed and unsuspecting consumer.

I was actually kinda lucky to find that trailer. . a place in GA keeps one like this in stock most of the time. I have been using enclosed trailers for years and had had enought with llight wieght axles and tries so this time around i made sure it was set up right.
