Now that I have determined an intercooler really the same price as a new TC I was discussion the ATS 3000 vs compound 3000/5000 with ATS. They feel that the 3000 can be dropped safely in a stock truck meaning a stock 48re in my case on my 2003. I would like the compound for more power and lower egt for towing but that is going to trigger need for TQ and transmission so probably 5K more. I wonder if I add the 3000 which spools up faster but has more flow on the other side hence should give me more power with my smarty jr would be a good first step. If transmission blows up then ask wife for upgrade to suncoast with TQ and consider adding the 5000 and go all out.

I am wondering if anyone has just done a single turbo "upgrade" and if they noticed anything worth while in a stock truck.

From past experience, I would upgrade the transmission first. That alone will give you more power because more power is getting to the ground. The truck won't have to work as hard causing unnecessary heat. In my opinion, doing a bunch of power add ons before the transmission is like putting your pants on before your underwear.

So a good transmission will put more power down?? I was thinking about this unit from suncoast. Would add TQ. Not sure if any extra management modules would be needed. This is not the race transmission but I am upgrading to tow and add a turbo for more power, lower egt in towing and daily drive config. I heard that ATS may not have the same quality as suncoast but have no idea of how to verify that. Any other transmission, TQ combo for my goals that you would recommend[h=3]48RE 4WD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION[/h] SKU# PLSD-48RE-4X
