ATS auto transmission products

I just need to know if you can buy ATS parts and install them yourself or if you have to go to one of their shops. This may be a stupid question but it seems like I have read about people driving long ways to get their suff installed and not installing it themselves. Matt

I did drive 1,000 miles or so, to Denver, to get my ATS Stage IV trans last year, but I love to take trips, and this looked like a good excuse to do so!



ATS will sell you any and all the parts and you can install anything you feel comfortable installing. Other guys here have put in their own Torque Converters and Valve Body's. If your level of expertise is high enough you can too. I have rebuilt 4-speed manual transmissions before, but an automatic is beyond my present abilities to due a complete rebuild on, and I needed a complete rebuild. Besides... my 4-speed days were a few decades ago

I don't know enough to rebuild an auto either but I have a buddy who does nothing but rebuild mostly automatics as his business. I think he will do the rebuild and install for basically free provided I buy a case and a pizza. Should be a good deal and I hope to learn a lot about the transmission at the same time. Matt

That sounds like a great deal! ATS has done all the difficult work, in the engineering and manufacturing of the TC and in the calibration and drilling of the Valve Body. Should be sweet!



I got to watch my 47Rh getting gutted, cleaned and re-built and I even got to watch them cut open my old TC--it was a little tired! It was really fun watching them rebuild my trans. I learned an unbelievable amount of information about trannys watching and asking questions. Your friend is doing you a HUGE favor.

You can get just the TC and VB from ATS and have your friend do the rebuild as I did the only problem we had was geting some of the older Hemi trans parts we used in my trans. It is holding at well over 500Hp and is going up shortly. I believe they will also sell a complete rebuild kit with the HD clutches etc. Call Clint at 800-949-6002
