What do people run for their settings for an ATS Co-pilot through different situations? Normal Driving? Racing? Sled-pulling?

For normal driving I usually run the 50mph setting, but haven't had much experience with racing or sled-pulling since I installed the controller and am thinking about going to the drag strip.

Thanks in Advance.

ATS Commander

lcaad1249 - I have the ATS Commander,(similar to the Copilot), which I bought when I got my ATS trans and 5 Star convertor. I think they were just coming out with the Copilot about that time.

I usually turn off my Commander when I first start off in the morning because I found out the truck warms up quicker because of the the lock-up is delayed and allows the convertor to slip more. When warm, I turn the Commander on and usually have it set to engage about 36 to 40 mph for most of my driving,(any lower it seems to shudder a little when coming to a stop). I found out if you don't mind the early lockup, (a little harsh), around town that I get somewhat better mileage because the dern convertor's not slippping all the time because of the low speeds here around the Atlanta side streets. I believe the factory lockup point is just under 50 mph.

As soon I as installed the ATS trans, conv and Commander my mileage went up a little. However it seemed to go back down a little when the SPS66 got installed, oh well you can't have everything.

If I'm showing the truck off to someone or plan on a big power take off or tire meltdown I knock it down a couple of notches to about 27 to 30 mph, where it usually makes the first to second shift and then locks and usually blows the tires away on my 2wd.

I haven't been to the drag strip but would probably have it set to lock after the 1-2 shift because I keep hearing folks say a locked 1-2 shift is not good for the transmission.

Of course with my 2wd I don't pull or anything like that, but really like the ability to control the trans depending on what I'm doing at the time. Don't know if this helps you any but no one else had posted. Bill
