Did anyone watch Two guys garage Sunday? They installed an ATS compound turbo system that used the stock turbo. Does anyone know any more abought this, ATS does not have it on there web site?

The system used an aurora 3000 MST and the stock turbo a new exhaust manifold and no extra fueling.

ATS said that they used the 3000 so the system would not go over 40psi of boost. So no boost fooler was needed. In fact the way I heard it no extra chips or programmers.

they have an ats 4000 turbo install listed on their site(two guys garage) but no compounds. That would be cool to have a compound turbo set up without lots of boost and stay around stock fueling but have really fast spool up and low egts. But once again I dont see it listed.

The two guys garage from last weekend was on again today and it was a 3000 MST compound with the stock turbo. They dynoed it and it ran near 950 ft lbs at 2500 rpms, unfortunately I was interrupted and did not get the horsepower numbers. Not only did they do the compound instal, they were also at Diesel fest in Colorado on the same show.

The ATS founder and the older gentlemen from Two Guys helped with the instal. They showed some good footage of the compound and how it mounts to the new ATS manifold.

I noticed a programmer on the table of parts when the host was showing the product. Horsepower was close to 500 torque close to a 1000. Claimed a drop of 500* egt, with instant boost.

ATS claims that both turbos in this compound together will produce 40psi. They claim ( ATS ) the stock turbo can generate 20 and the MST 3000 will make 20psi as well. My question is, how much will the stock turbo make on it's own, or did they lower the boost by somehow changing the waste gate?

I saw them at SEMA. Clint showed them to me and explained how they work. They look great and the application looks clean. They will be available in two to three weeks. You can pre-buy them now. If you are intresteted call 877-208-0525 TV Diesel Performance to place an order.

This will be my last post on this subject. Finally found some time to call ATS today. I talked to one of there tech guys, he said that the system will run the boost in the high 40's and recommended head studs. He also said they did run a programmer. If anyone else has watched that episode of Two Guys Garage, did they or did they not say the compound turbo produce only 40psi? If I am wrong I will admit it! Here comes the but, but if they did say only 40psi, then what else can I say!!!!!

I talked a bit about the twins sets they have at ats with clint on thursday. 3500 for the small set with the stock turbo as a secondary. 5k for the big set. I like the cast "hot pipe" 'tween the turbos real clean look. clint said both sets will accept a elbow mounted brake off the primary turbo with the standard v band clamp.

You are correct, funny thing is they never mentioned installing the programmer even though it was on the table. They made it sound like it made all that power with just the turbo install:rolleyes:. I thought that head studs aren't needed when boost is below 55 psi?

Depends on if you make and sell your own set of
head studs :-laf

boost certainly isn't the only factor in determining when studs are needed...

Technically boost doesnt kill headgaskets, backpressure does boost is actually a measure of restriction. You can have 55lbs of boost at 65 lbs of drive pressure or 55lbs of boost at 55lbs of drive pressure depending on turbo choices.
