Today, I was disassembling the compound turbos to install them, I figured while they were apart, I would check out the endplay on the shafts.

So come to find out, I would say there is close to . 010" endplay on both turbos. I don't have a dial indicator, but I can feel . 010". It is to my understanding that there can be . 000" endplay on turbochargers. Am I wrong? Do you guys have any input?

Cory,

There will be some play in certain turbo's from what I can tell. I was alarmed at first also but it seems this is normal.

It just makes me wonder because before the Compounds, I had a 2000 and it shot oil through the intercooler, then I put a ported 3000 on and shot oil again. Just makes me wonder.....

If your shooting oil you might check for a restriction somewhere in your air stream on the intake side.

What size air filter are you running with the compounds?

ATS Twins

I'm running that set. Mine didn't have any movement in them. Call Mike at ATS and see what's up.
