Got home today and found my new ATS three piece manifold here. Any tips on the install? If you have any suggestions it would be appreciated. I hope the Turbo shows tomorrow as it didnt come with the manifold- dont know why but I cant wait to put it on! Thanks Dave

before you do anything remove the OEM exhaust manifold so that you can use it as a reference----

get some antiseize and apply to the sockets of the ATS--this acts as a lubricant so you can put it together and adjust---

I pounded mine together with a rubber mallet checking it often with a tape measure and the OEM exhaust--

once it's together bolt her up ---

with the new turbo--remember to get new gaskets and don't forget the oil drain back gasket and PRE-OIL the snot out of it---chris

You will need to modify your heater hose tubing. I used one off a 12v, and it worked fine. You will need the tube and the mt. brkt.

Thanks for the tips guys. It always helps to talk to someone whose dunit. I dont think it will be to difficult. Thanks again, Dave

Bob, i got the manifold friday but no turbo. It must have got mixed up and I hope it shows up monday. I dont think I am going to coat the manifold. I really cant wait as the one thats on there is seriously cracked and i need to go to Utah next week. I was wondering though if you could tell me what the biggest dif. is between the stock turbo and the PDR. I am anxoius to see but would like your opinion. You know what my mods are from my sig. very similar to yours until now. Sounds like your getting really serious into power! It has a way of becoming addicting but in a legal fun way. Thats for the reply , Dave:)

Also pay attention to the fact that you have to remove 2 studs from the origional manifold for the turbo bolt-up, you will see what I am talking about when you see it. Just use a vis grip and it will turn easy enough to get it out. Then put it in the same spot on the new one.

The gaskets have keepers on them so you can thread the bolts on them a few turns then line up to the holes. A few of the bolts are hard to get to with a ratchet. need an extension and a contortionists arm :p

I love mine and on the heater hose mount, I found a small flat strip to bolt to the hose then to the bolt mount with a bolt that I found to work. Paint with high temp and done!:D

Is this ATS three piece manifold a 24 V thing? And what gains or lose (depending on HP or EGT) do you see with this addition? Just Curious?

Darren

Darren, i dont know about performance, but the manifold does give you lower EGT's. I will let yoou know on wed. as It should be on, Dave

I used propane torch and heated the manifold where they join alot easier to slide into each other no hammering they fall right in on my 99 i had to drill out 2 threads on manifold i think these manifolds are configured for 12 valve engines heater bracket needs some custom work. Perfomance i think is around 10 horse egts way down for me. GOOD LUCK

Well, I have the ATS and Piers turbo installed. It wasnt bad except for a small leak in 5-6 cylinders. It was easy to fix though annd it is on now with no problems. I did notice an increase in low end go power but I would think that is due to the turbo not the manifold. I have not towed with it yet but that will come this weekend. The whole job took about 3hrs. The ATS manifold is about 50% heavier than the stock. It looks really cool on the engine. I will up date any lower EGT's when I tow, Dave

Dogue,

The only difference I observed was about 50-100 Deg. reduction in EGT. I couldn't notice any seat-of-the-pants horsepower change. :)

50-100 doesn't sound like much, besides the plate you got any other power mods? Any injectors? I guess with just the plate 100 degree drop is good.

I have some 370 injectors that I haven't put in yet. I want to see if replacing my lift pump helps my low fuel pressure/lack of power at high rpm problem. I hope to get some turbo ideas at May Madness.
