Has anyone who has installed an ATS pulse manifold seen any power gains or losses after installation? I am contemplating putting one on my truck and was just curious.

I have heard conflicting storys about if it makes the turbo spool quicker or not but it most likely not increase any power. It's main objective is to keep from breaking the head like the oem manifold can do if it shrinks to much and it is stronger, so most people use them for bigger/twin turbo set ups. I am very close to ordering one myself.

ATS

Jason,

I have the PDR Ats that has a riser for the wastgate fabbed into the center section. Its basically the same thing as a regular manifold except for the riser. I noticed spoolup occured maybe 100 rpm sooner, give or take, exhause sounds soooo much better now, deeper and a little more mellowed out, the stacks had a little blat when at idle or wot, sounds perfect now. Turbo cool down time takes almost twice as long now for some reason, thats the only real downfall to the setup IMO which really isnt any big deal. Looks better, definately more beef to it and ports are a lot smoother in transition and larger opening. No real power gains that I can tell. Im gettin it dynoed in the next week or two, but I never did before installing it so I cant give any solid gains or losses. My dad ordered the same setup for his 12 valve after seein and hearing mine if that tells you anything, the external w/g is a great setup looks cool too. That counts for somethin. :D Any other questions, Ill answer the best I can. Hope this helps.

Haven't really noticed more power cause of it, but it expands and contracts with the head so it doesn't break like most OEM one's. One problem with mine worth mentioning, the dam mounting bolts kept backing out, several times. Torqued and re-torqued til blue in the face. Finally cross-drilled the bolt heads and safety wired them puppies. Haven't backed out since.

OTRPU - there have been a couple of threads about your problem, I believe the concensus was that the bolts are a bit too long and bottom out, the solution was to put double washers on them if I remember correctly.

Double washers, sounds like I shoulda checked the bolt/hole lengths. Crossdrilling and safety wiring, I always come to the simple solution. Geesh! Will have them mic and measure when they put the new Cummins together. Sittin in Davenport, got 1. 25 hrs available, destination, Reno, NV. Will be on the boards for 34 hours. You'ed think a guy would check his Recap affore taking a load that's 4 days away. Nothin more fun than sitting round a Flying J building hours. Get some sleep Steve, nite all.

Cheers,

Steve J.

If it makes anyone feel any better Mack road tractors has this kind of Manifolds, don't know who makes them but the heat thing sounds like it might be the key , Are the Ats manifolds predrilled for Pyro set up?

I did a different way to keep the bolts torqued, but turned out to be very expensive. Crossdrilling is a MUCH cheaper and fool proof way.
