I"m considering an ATS 48RE Stage 1 Package transmission for my stock truck. I would have it installed ATS Diesel Performance in Colorado.

I do not tow, I will be using my truck for a overland XP Camper on a custom flatbed. The gross weight will be in the neighborhood of 12,000#. I plan to travel from Colorado to Alaska and then down to Patagonia in South America.

Has anyone had any experience with the ATS Stage 1 transmission and the service at ATS Diesel Performance? Any other suggestions on rebuilt transmissions?

Thanks in advance

My personal preference would be to recommend you to Goerend. I've only known one person that purchased an ATS trans and he had issues and zero warranty because he installed it himself (ended up being an assembly problem found by another trans shop).

Do not use ats. I have personally seen one guy go through 7 of their transmission until he listened to me and got a goerend. Hasnt had a ptoblem since. Call Erick at Browns Diesel and he will set you up with what you need.

I have a Goerend transmission in my 95 Dodge Diesel Scotty Motor Home and love it. The only way to go. I drove all the way out there to have Dave do it. That been several years ago.

Like DTT Goerend no longer has a shop that you can go to. However they do supply their transmissions/kits to other installers/builders. SNOKING

Call Goerend and they can refer you to a competent rebuilder. I love my trans with their parts it's bullet proof

Snoking...I would have loved to have a gorend that was built by Dave...Since he no longer builds trannies, I was thinking of going with another builder. I don't want to get caught in between "well its the parts you supplied, well the installer screwed it up" thing. I was looking at maybe BD Power, suncoast, or Industrial Injection...Any opinions??

Brown's Diesel from Fresno CA builds goerend transmissions for Dave. Talk to Erick and he will hook you up with exactly what you need

Alliance, just got back from Riverdale... With one of Reb's Goerend transmissions. Thanks for the recommendation. The shop was awesome! Reb was amazing. Super honest. He even gave me so money back to pay for a hotel because there was a problem with the original input shaft and he rebuilt the whole thing again. I didn't think he should have paid for the room but he had already changed the paperwork. (he took the trans out and rebuilt it a second time to make it right while he should have been getting ready for a race he had) I drove 6 hours there and another 6 back and would do it again without thinking. I am even planning another trip to have some other work done. What a great guy and great shop! Michael let is take his personal truck (530 hp Ford) to go get some dinner while we waited. Fantastic experience and now I too Highly recommend Browns!! Thanks for hooking me up!!
