I'm thinking of going with a stage 5 in the spring. How long did it take for them to redo the transmission? Also how did you get arround while it was being done and where did you stay?

Thanks

2 days but I also had an Exhaust brake installed. I think if you made arrangements with Clint you could get it all done in 1 full day. Are you planning to come out this way? I am sure Clint has plenty of good installers out your way if you dont want to do the install here. I live an hour north of ATS and drove my wifes car for 2 days while it was being done. (Although I wouldnt have minded borrowing Clints truck!! :D )

BTW, the stage 5 is the cats meow!!

The only difference is that they will rebuild my original unit. It only has 30k miles on it. One other guestion. Did they put synthetic oil or regular oil in your unit? What do they recomend?

Thanks

Rich

Rich, to be completely honest I do not remember what I was told about transmission fluid  I was in a hurry to get out to go to a Christmas party. :D I fiquire when the time comes I'll call Clint and ask what I should do. If you are going to have yours rebuilt you may need more time. My understanding is at the Stage 4 or 5 level you get one of their trannys (painted purple :D ) if they have to tear into yours and then reinstall I bet there is more time involved and I dont see you saving any money that way. Maybe I am wrong though, I would call Clint for that.

They specified ATF +3 for my 47RH. My understanding is the 47RE needs a different fluid, possibly +4? Anyway I was told to use +3 exclusively. So I do.

By the way Rich, I drove to Denver from L. A. , as I wanted ATS to rebuild mine. I got there about mid-morning and so had to spend the night. There are plenty of motels nearby. But with planning (and luck) I understand they can do a 1-day turn around on your trans with no problem.

One thing that took longer on mine is that I decided late in the day to have my driveshaft balanced and new u-joints installed. This caused a bit of a delay, but I am so glad I had it done. It really cut down on vibrations at speed. Totally worth the price, and the place which balances the driveshafts for ATS is really good.

Robert, how many miles you got on the truck now? When you going to point it towards Missouri again?

Hi Pit Bull!! Glad to see you are still hangin' around!

My truck is still a youngster... only got about 140,000 miles on it. My ATS Stage IV will have 33,000 on it when the Odo turns 140,000 which will be in about a month. I keep hoping to point 'er back towards the Ozarks... I thought I could come in early Dec. , then the Boss said he needed me! So the next chance will probably be in the Spring, as coming back in Jan or Feb doesn't appeal to me too much.

Cost

Hey guys... if you dont mind me askin... what does all this run? What kind of warranty?

Also, wouldnt plan on bombing too much, but mainly looking for bulletproof transmission that would last life of my truck.

Hey CDaves, I dont think we are allowed to post prices here on the forums if I remember right. Pm me if you want to know. As for lasting, oh yeah it'll do that!! :D Warranty is 100k miles unlimited HP. Pretty good eh?

I think we CAN post what we paid for products, I think we just can't try to sell something in the Forums.

2 years ago I paid $3,600 for my ATS Stage IV, but that was without the Commander. I added the Commander a little later.

The great thing about the ATS is, if your trans is relatively low-mileage you can install just the TripleLok TC and the Valve Body and it will prolong the life of your trans. Then when the trans needs rebuilding, you already have the TC & VB and so the upgraded rebuild is not so expensive.

The ATS is the BEST thing I ever did to my truck. I'd do it again in a Heartbeat!

Cool! Rich, for the Stage 2 I paid $2500 installed by ATS themselves. My stage 5 is a little custom so the price would not be accurate of what the true pricing is for stage 5, should I dare say I have a stage 6? :D Had mine setup to hold 800hp with no other mods needed to the transmission at this time. Oo.

With only 30k on your truck unless its toast already you should be cool to do their Valve Body and TC (stage 2) and do very well. Mine held 555 rwhp with the stage 2 and had zero problems. Upgraded cuz I wanted the billet shafts and while I was in there decided to go "hog wild" :D I concur with rrausch, the ATS transmission is on the top 2 things of my favorite list on the truck, only to be beat out by the engine that gives it life!:D :D

jrandol and rrausch:

Like both of you, I am VERY HAPPY with the ATS Stage IV

Transmissions in both my 96' Dodge CTD and my newer

02' Dodge CTD! The unit in the 96' now has over 60,000

hard miles on it! As Robert already pointed out, Clint,

Ranee and the ENTIRE ATS Staff are GREAT people who

build a very tough product and stand behind the products

they sell!! Both of my trucks are also at or near 500 RWHP!
